Britney Spears allegedly wants to get back together with Sam Asghari amid their ongoing divorce. The former refuses to grant the latter's lucrative demands. Fans have long been suspicious of Asghari, way before their wedding on June 9, 2022. So when the couple separated in August 2023, the fitness trainer faced multiple accusations, like cheating on the Toxic songstress.
Asghari – who's been "supportive" of his estranged wife amid her Justin Timberlake drama – reportedly threatened Spears for more money amid their divorce battle. But what led them here, anyway? Did the Circus performer discover her ex's true intentions? The reason is unclear, but a psychologist said it was likely due to Spears reclaiming her normal life. Here's a closer look at her anticipated split with Asghari.

Psychologist Said Britney Spears' Return To Normal Life Caused Split From Sam Asghari

In August 2023, Isabelle Morley, a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in couples therapy, said "it might be more than coincidental that the couple's relationship grew during such a tumultuous time — and ended, ironically, when life calmed down," per Business Insider. Morley told the outlet that "even good big changes disrupt a system."
"Suddenly, she had her agency and independence back and that probably shifted things for them in a way they didn't anticipate," the therapist added.
Morley explained that it's common for couples to bond during a difficult time. "They were fighting against something in a way that probably gave them a shared purpose and meaning and drive," she said of the Spears and Asghari. "And suddenly, the thing that they were battling was gone. I'm imagining they didn't expect that the absence of this problem would become a problem."
Asghari was obviously a primary support to Spears during her conservatorship battle. "When you are so reliant and close to someone in extreme circumstances, you want to make sure that your relationship will survive and thrive once you add back in the rest of your normal life," Morley stated. Unfortunately, it didn't work for the pop star.
Britney Spears wants another baby at age 42 . She and Sam Asghari announced that they had a miscarriage in May 2022, a month after sharing their pregnancy news on Instagram.
The psychologist concluded her assessment by warning readers: "I think we all have the instinct — to do things that make you feel like you're empowered, taking control of your life. But that's going to be not the best time to make lifelong commitments."

Sam Asghari Accused Britney Spears Of Cheating During Their Marriage

Following the announcement of their separation, rumors spread that Spears had cheated on Asghari during their marriage. Almost a year later, Page Six revealed that the latter was threatening to blackmail the Crossroads star. A source said he was "focused" on "attempting to negotiate concessions beyond his prenup and threatening to go public with extraordinarily embarrassing information about Britney unless he gets paid."
His representative, Brandon Cohen of BAC Talent, later denied the claims. "There are many claims that Sam is challenging the prenup and threatening to exploit his ex-wife with videos," he said at that time. "However, all these claims are false, as no negative intention has ever been directed towards her and never will be. Sam has always and will always support her." Spears made no comments about the matter, but an anonymous insider said:
"It's blackmail and it'll never happen."
Prior to their wedding, Page Six was informed that "any money [Spears] made before the wedding is protected." In an article published by TheThings in August 2023, we also discovered that Asghari "won't get a penny" from Spears – not even from the sales of her bombshell memoir, The Woman in Me, which came out on October 24, 2023.

Sam Asghari "Wants To Be Compensated Properly" For "Everything He Went Through With Britney"

In January 2024, an Us Weekly source gave an update on Asghari and Spears' divorce, saying that the settlement is "stuck in limbo." The anonymous tipster said "there's a lot of wrangling back and forth. Things have become a lot more complicated than both of them had hoped it would be." They shared that "Britney is in no mood to be pushed around or rushed into signing over another huge check to Sam. She wants to stick to the letter of the paperwork and feels that's all he's entitled to, period."
However, they also noted that "Sam isn't hurting for cash, but he's willing to dig in and fight for the extra money he feels he deserves." In January 2023, the outlet was told that the pop music princess could be "emotionally abusive" and "cruel" to her estranged husband and that she blamed him for her miscarriage. She allegedly told him she "lost the baby because he is never home."
But according to another insider, "Sam feels he should be compensated properly for everything he went through with Britney."
"The exact amount he wants is being kept confidential, but he's not happy with what Britney and her team have proposed," they continued. A separate source said, "Sam is going for everything under the sun." Spears, who hasn't commented on the matter, is reportedly "still deeply resentful over how much money certain family members have managed to mooch off of her through the years."
After divorcing Kevin Federline in 2007, Britney Spears was ordered to pay him $1.3 million and $40,000 a month in child support for their sons, Sean and Jayden who live in Hawaii with Federline and still refuse to see their mom .
