While on American Idol, Clarkson was skinny, but she was still called ‘chubby’ or ‘fat’ when compared to the other contestants. Despite her fit figure at the time, Kelly admitted she was unhappy having to watch her weight.

Kelly told Attitude Magazine when she became really skinny she was so sad that she wanted to k*** herself. “ I was miserable, like inside and out, for four years of my life. But no one cared, because aesthetically you make sense.” She also added the pressure from people to maintain the acceptable weight standards was what really got to her. Clarkson told Glamour UK,

But now Clarkson says she didn't lose the weight because of people's pressure or wanting to look better in front of a camera but for her health. Kelly was told she was pre-diabetic by her doctor and she tried other ways before she decided to make the change.

“I wasn’t shocked. I was a tiny bit overweight. But I wasn’t shocked by it. They did, they were like, ‘You’re prediabetic.
