What Happened To Wayne Gretzkys Daughter, Paulina?
Being the daughter of the greatest hockey player of all-time, no doubt you’re going to grab some attention. That was and is the case with Paulina Gretzky, who was also thrust into the spotlight for her relationship alongside PGA golfer, Dustin Johnson.
Finally, these days, she seems to be laying low, especially in comparison to her party days years ago, prior to starting a family. Paulina did admit with Golf Digest, all the constant attention got to her eventually;
“Sometimes I feel like a zoo animal out there. People think I can't hear them—but I can definitely hear you. If anything, just come over and talk to me. I'm not someone people should be afraid of. Everyone is usually very sweet, and there hasn't been a bad moment for me. But I do feel more comfortable if I'm walking with someone. Of course, sometimes I just want to watch Dustin play golf, and I hope people respect that. And you know what? They always do.”
She’s at tournaments a lot less these days and oddly enough, she isn’t as active on social media. We’ll diagnose exactly what she’s doing these days, both the good and bad.
Her Claim To Fame
She was thrust into the spotlight as a bit of a wild child, dating a couple of athletes along the way such as former NHL star turned analyst, Jarret Stoll. Her stardom rose once she started to date Dustin Johnson, Paulina recalls the moment;
“My mom played with Dustin in the Wednesday pro-am at Tiger's tournament at Sherwood. She told Dustin about her daughter, blah-blah-blah, and invited him to the house that night. I'm sure he was rolling his eyes, and so was I when my mom invited me over to meet this golfer she had just met. So I show up looking like a complete ragamuffin, and here's this really cute guy. I didn't stay long, but he was such a gentleman, so endearing. He's always been that way to me. We exchanged numbers, and here we are.”
She became a prominent figure from then on – however, there has been some trouble along the way, including a rumored separation.
Marriage Problems & Vacation
That’s right, there were some alleged marriage problems just a few years back. It is believed that Wayne Gretzky worried and was none too pleased with his daughter’s relationship status.
It looks like things have smoothened for the better, the two took a trip with one another prior to the pandemic out in St. Barths. Turns out that there is no hostility between Wayne and Dustin either, given the golfer’s recent interview with Bleacher Report, things are more than okay;
"Wayne's just an incredible person and obviously he's great to be around. I love spending as much time as I can around him," Johnson said. "What he did in his sport it's arguably—dominated more than any athlete ever. For me, just to be around him, learn how he handles himself, why he was so good, which is 'cause he worked harder than everyone else, it's very special and I'm very lucky."
Without a doubt, that’s great news for the Gretzky family, Wayne has always preferred to keep family matters on the down-low, though of course, that has been a lot easier said than done, Janet Gretzky included.
These days, Paulina seems to be content with living life away from the spotlight, especially in terms of her IG content, which has been few and far between, compared to what it used to be.
Current Status
She’s still doing lots of travel, she most recently posted to her IG story, showing her trip from Memphis to San Francisco. Paulina has quite the following with a near 800K followers. It is safe to say that she’s an influencer, Paulina is working alongside a couple of brands today, one of them, a swimwear company called Fun Boy.
As for what else she’s doing, Paulina is busy being a mom and loving wife. She made a new post about her anniversary to Dustin. She also stated that her mother taught her a lot about being a supportive wife;
“One thing I get from my mom is this constant need to support the person that you're with. In this athletic world, I see how hard it is for Dustin sometimes.”
That might be a big reason for the 31-year-old playing things on the DL lately, perhaps not wanting to draw attention away from her man. Who knows what the future holds but for the time being, we’ll continue to keep track via IG and her other social media platforms.
